‘Munsters’ Remake Now Produced, Directed by Bryan Singer

The television reboot of The Munsters NBC last month promised would be “a visually-spectacular one-hour drama” now has the marginal added credibility of Bryan Singer. Deadline reports Singer, the director of Superman Returns and X-Men 1 and 2, will both executive produce and direct the pilot tasked with convincing people that remaking The Munsters is a rational and sound idea.
A similar consulting role was once on the table for Guillermo del Toro–who would have had the advantage of knowing Ron Perlman well enough to put in a good word towards playing Herman–but Singer makes at least as much sense. His insistence on doing another Battlestar Galactica reboot shows he’s not at all above remake territory, and obviously his prior work shows he can handle–with varying success–tales of powerful outsiders who sport patently ridiculous hairstyles. Plus, Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller is the one spearheading this thing, so there’s also that. That they both are named Bryan.
